Description
The Golden Panchax is a type of killifish that likes to stay near the top of the aquarium. It has beautiful gold or bronze scales that are sure to stand out in the aquarium. They are found in the slow-moving waters of streams, swamps, and fields of India. They are very hardy fish and is great for beginners that are interested in killifish or thinking of getting a surface-dwelling fish.
They are a semi-aggressive species and will usually leave other species alone unless they are small enough to be considered food. It is suggested to keep only one or a group of four at least because they tend to be aggressive among themselves at times.
They are primarily carnivorous. In the wild, they feed on insects and larvae that drops onto the surface of the water. They can be given dry foods that are commercially available at the pet store such as flakes and pellets that float. They should occasionally be given fresh or frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp to keep them looking their best.
NOTE: Smaller fish may be eaten by the Golden Panchax if it small enough to fit into their mouth.
