Description
The Albino Buenos Aires Tetra is a selectively-bred version of the Buenos Aires Tetra for the hobby that is white.
The Buenos Aires Tetra is widely distributed throughout Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. They are known for their active schooling nature and bright red fins. They are commonly found in freshwater ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers with clean water. They are known to eat aquarium plants so it is best to keep lesser plants in the aquarium and instead add more rocks and driftwood as decorations. Plants with thicker leaves like the Anubias Nana may withstand this fish.
They have a habit of nipping fins of other fish but only happens when they are in insufficient numbers or when tank space is limited. It is recommended to keep at least 8-10 of them at the minimum to quell this behaviour. Their active nature does not make them ideal tank mates with shy, slow-moving, and livebearing fish.
They are omnivorous and will accept commercially available fish food. Providing live or frozen foods like Artemia, Daphnia, and bloodworms will help them display much brighter colours.
