Description
White Cloud Mountain Minnows originate from ‘White Cloud Mountain’ in Guangdong, China. They are small fish that boasts bright red fins in the aquarium. Their habitat includes slow-moving springs and streams with clear, shallow water with dense growths of aquatic vegetation. A well-planted tank set-up with some stones and driftwood would give them comfort. Their popularity in the hobby stems from their hardiness and is a great fish to get new aquariums to start the Nitrogen Cycle.
They are very peaceful and is a great fish for a well-researched community setup. They are schooling fish and is best kept in schools of 10 or more. Keeping them in large schools will make individuals less nervous and more secure. Males will show much more bright colours from the competition of attracting the female’s attention.
They are micro predators and eats small insects, crustaceans, and worms in the wild. In the aquarium, they can be fed with high-quality flakes or pellets and can be given occasionally some frozen or live foods like Artemia, Daphnia, and bloodworms. They may also eat some plant and algae matter in the aquarium.
