Description
The Blue Rainbowfish is a rainbowfish species with a blue tint to its scales. This blue fish is native to Lake Kutubu; one of the largest lakes in Papua New Guinea. Lake Kutubu features very clear and still waters, plenty of aquatic vegetation, submerged roots, and logs. Like most rainbowfish, these species prefer a planted set-up with alkaline waters. Crushed corals and limestone can help with raising the pH of the waters.
Blue Rainbowfish are very peaceful but will disturb small, slow-moving species with their active swimming and large size. They are schooling fish and is best kept in a school of at least 6-8 or more. This will encourage more natural behaviours and better colours.
Omnivorous and an unfussy eater, they will accept any dried fish food given and will do best with some regular feedings of live or frozen foods such as Artemia, Daphnia, and bloodworms.
