Description
The Blue Line Rasbora originates from the slow-moving forest streams of Borneo. They are defined from their iridescent blue line that streaks down their body. Their habitat in the wild includes fallen branches, marginal vegetation, leaf litter, and tea-coloured water due to the tannins coming out from fallen branches and leaves, creating a blackwater environment. A natural blackwater set-up will create a much more comfortable environment for them though a planted tank set-up would suffice if a blackwater set-up is not your taste.
They are a peaceful species and can be mixed in a peaceful community tank with other fish that shares the same water parameters. They are a schooling species and is best kept in a school of 8-10 or more. Keeping them in groups will make individuals less nervous and will have a much more natural-looking display in the aquarium. Males will also show more vibrant colours as they compete for the female’s attention.
They will accept commercially available fish foods in flak and pellet forms. Occasionally giving them frozen or live foods like Artemia, Daphnia, and bloodworms will benefit them further in colouration and breeding.
