Description
Serpae Tetras are beautiful red coloured fish that originates from many parts of South America. They are reminiscent of flames moving in an aquarium because of their bright red display. Their colours make them a popular choice for aquarists to have. They prefer to stay in a school in between tree roots and vegetation for cover.
Serpae Tetras are RECOMMENDED TO BE KEPT IN A SCHOOL because of their nature of biting fins of other fish. They are best kept in a school of 8 or more so that they focus on each other more and prevent them from going after other fish in the aquarium. A community planted tank is sufficient for them to be comfortable.
They are omnivorous and feeds on fallen fruit, small insects, crustaceans, and algae in the wild. They will accept commercially available fish foods. It is best to give a varied menu that contains live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, Artemia, and Daphnia.
