Description
The Green Corydoras is a bottom-dwelling catfish that gets its name from its iridescent, emerald-green body. They are native to the still waters of lakes and backwaters throughout South America. When setting up a tank, a planted tank setup with driftwood or roots as decorations will create a comfortable environment for these fish. A substrate of smooth gravel or sand is recommended because the fish has sensitive barbels.
They are very peaceful and can mix well in a community with other peaceful fish that are not too large. They are best kept in a group of 6-8+ for comfort and security.
Green Corys are omnivorous and accept sinking foods as well as bloodworms. They should not be expected to survive on ‘left-overs’ or relied on to ‘clean’ the aquarium.
