Description
Glass Bloodfin Tetras are an interesting fish to have for their unique clear bodies and red fins. It originates from various parts of the Amazon in small creeks and streams. They are usually found swimming near the surface of the water and swim in schools. A planted aquarium with some floating vegetation will provide them with some cover and comfort.
They are a peaceful species and can mix well with other peaceful community fish. They are best kept in a school of 6-10 or more so those rival males don’t fight. They are skittish and are really good jumpers so be sure to have a lid on your aquarium.
In the wild, they eat any small invertebrates in the water surface due to their mouth facing upwards. In aquariums, they are more fond of live and frozen foods like Daphnia, Artemia, and bloodworms. They can also be given commercially available fish food in the form of micro pellets and flakes.
