Description
The Golden Belly Barb is a species of large fish that can be found throughout the rivers of Southeast Asia and is commonly caught as a delicacy. As an ornamental fish, a large open swimming space is needed as this fish is an active swimmer.
These fish are generally peaceful unless space is insufficient. Its active behaviour suggests that shy and slow-moving fish are not suitable as tank mates. As a schooling species, they should be maintained in schools of 6+.
Feeding is easy as they are not picky eaters. They are known to forage for shrimps, snails, and other small aquatic creatures to eat. In captivity, regular pellets and live foods can be given alongside some vegetable matter for a varied diet.
