Description
The Tailspot Corydoras gets its name from the large black spot on its tail. They are small catfish that stays at the bottom of the tank. They originate from the rivers of Western Brazil and Northeastern Bolivia. An aquarium set-up with a fine sandy or rounded gravel substrate is recommended as they are bottom dwellers and will keep them from hurting their skin. Additions of hiding spaces of driftwood, rocks, and plants will make them comfortable and secure.
They are very peaceful and can be mixed in a community tank. They are also schooling fish and is best kept in a school of 4-6 or more. Keeping them in a school will help them feel more secure.
They are omnivores and forages the bottom of the tank for food. They will accept sinking fish foods and can also be given frozen or dried foods like bloodworms.
NOTE: They should not be expected to survive only on the ‘left-overs’ of other fish or relied on to ‘clean’ the aquarium.
