Description
The Micro Galaxy Rasbora, also known as the ‘Celestial Pearl Danio’, are small fish with vibrant colours and patterns resembling stars. Galaxy Rasboras are native to the flooded grasslands of Myanmar that has plenty of vegetation and clear waters. When setting up a tank, a heavily planted set-up is ideal to provide enough cover for them. A planted set-up will also encourage better colouration and more natural behaviour.
It is best to avoid keeping them with larger and more active tank mates as they will most likely be outcompeted for food. They are semi-aggressive and will nip fins if not kept in a large group. Keeping them in a group will limit their aggression among themselves and will leave other tankmates alone. Keeping them in a group of 10-20 will yield the best results.
In the wild, they feed on small insects, algae, and zooplankton but will accept dried fish foods. Daily meals of live or frozen foods such as Artemia, Daphnia and bloodworms will give better colouration for the fish. Sinking foods are best as they most often stay in the middle of the tank.
